CHP and power systems

Distributed Generation (DG) and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems, known also as cogeneration, are increasingly coming into focus. Before selling or demonstrating, you need to show compliance to the applicable European directives. Kiwa Gastec provides 'one stop shop' services for your approval, including CE advise, testing and certification services.

Common used techniques are based on e.g. fuel cell, internal combustion, gas turbine, Rankin-cycle and Stirling technology. Independent of the used technology a DG or CHP system has to show compliance to the relevant European Directives before selling it on the European market or putting it in service. Also for field testing, the product safety has to be shown by compliance to the relevant Directives.

European directives

In general DG and CHP systems have to apply to the following European Directives:

• Gas Apliance Directive (GAD)
• Low Voltage Directive (LVD)
• Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC-D)
• Machinery Directive (MD)
• Pressure Equipment Directive (PED)
• Explosion Directives (ATEX)

Testing for Japan and North American

Besides offering you a full service concept to test and approve your DG or CHP system for the European market we also can test your system for the Japanese and North American market. Through our cooperation with laboratories in Japan and North America our test results will be recognized for certification for these markets. By combining testing for multiple markets the total effort and cost can be limited.
